Give ‘Em a Hand for their Perseverance

We Americans seem to like to take the ‘easy’ way out these days. We opt for ‘Easy Cheese’ and ‘Easy Mac’ and other ‘easy’ things. Much to the discredit of America, many of us can’t seem to muster the intestinal fortitude to give our all to a cause that we don’t consider ‘easy.’ Well, I want to introduce you to two young men who know what ‘hard’ commitment really means, ‘first hand:’ Henry and Mitch. These two young men embody the true spirit of perseverance. You see, Henry and Mitch both nearly lost their hands because they were committed to winning a ‘hard’ game of tug-o-war. According to Henry, “[The game] turned [my] muscles into hamburgers and severed 90 percent of the nerves. What wasn’t severed was severely traumatized. Three bones were snapped clean in half.” Now, that, America, is commitment! You won’t ever see any of those godless Communists showing that sort of perseverance.

  1. Well, ‘committed’ might be too weak a word. I was thinking ‘certifiable’.
