I was talking with some friends today and the conversation steered toward the Union Gospel Mission here in Fort Worth. Somebody mentioned that those who are down on their luck can always get a free meal there, but, unfortunately, they have to sit through a sermon first. I thought for a second, brow furrowed, and then casually mentioned that the same must be true with Baptists…they have to sit through a sermon too in order to make it to the potluck dinner.
Question 1: At a church potluck, why is the food that is supposed to be warm always cold and the food that is supposed to be cold always warm?
Question 2: Why do some ladies insist on bringing their tuna surprise to the potluck every time, even though no one likes it and its mere room-temperature presence causes some people to get salmonella?
