Waning Stimu-less Support?

Filed under: Politics — dangrdave @ 12:55 am

Polls are now showing that support for the stimu-less plan is fading (here); perhaps that is because Americans are beginning to consider the true costs of the plan the more they hear about it.  Additionally, according to the poll that I’m citing, Americans remain convinced that tax cuts will offer a better bang for our buck than pork projects.  This was also d when Hayek’s ideas beat out those of Keynes after WWII (see a quick video clip from PBS here); this economic slap-down was thought to have put the nails in the coffin of socialism and had indeed done so for about 50 years.  However, with a new generation, the lessons of the past have been quickly forgotten and we seem intent on following a failed course of sacrificing our economy to socialism.  Will O and his liberal Democratic majority ram this package through anyway?  My guess is ‘yes,’ because the package was never meant to be bi-partisan and it was never really meant to do anything other than fulfill liberal wish-lists and move our economy closer to socialism.  I’m hoping that support for this stimu-less, pork-ridden package wanes and fades away.  A good orator doth not an economist make.
